Women in Business Interesting facts: In short, 38.8% of women in work are in part-time positions and account for 77.6% of the total part-time job market and in 2007 the full-time gender pay gap was 17.2%, while the part-time gender pay gap was 35.6%. women account for 34% of all differences in labour market participation, sex segregation, career and wage structures and the relative under-evaluation of female-dominated employment account for a large part of the gap. Lets try and change this by celebrating and supporting women in business, below are some well renowned women of note, we will be adding to this page as time goes buy, please feel free to let us know if you can recommend women for this page.
Katherine Lucy Garrett-Cox CBE, 1967 – Present
Graduated with her bachelor's in history with honours from Durham University and is currently the CEO of investment firm Alliance Trust and Ms. Garrett-Cox, also serves as a Partner at ORN Capital, LLP.
She is a Founder Member of the Advisory Council of TheCityUK. In her role she is responsible for both the investment policy and asset allocation of the company as well as executive oversight for the business.
In 2007, she joined Scotland-based Alliance Trust, the largest investment trust in the U.K., as the chief investment officer. A year later, she took the helm as the chief executive officer and director of Alliance Trust.
Earlier in her career as a hedge fund manager with Morley Fund Managers she became chief investment officer and executive director, she was also recognised as one of the "young global leaders" by the World Economic Forum.
She also worked at wat Aberdeen Asset Management in 2000 and became the executive director in 2001. She's also served as the chief investment officer at Aviva Investors Global Services Limited.
She's a member of the UK Society of Investment Professionals and the she's a Chartered Financial Analyst. She's also a member of the supervisory board of Deutsche Bank AG and serves as a director of Aviva Investors.
